Group Overhaul - IMPORTANT

Due to the way that this group has developed, I feel that we are now in need of a major adjustment to the way the group is run.

Firstly, Folder Managers and Moderators will be combined into one role, which will be Moderators. Due to the amount of losses we've had from our admin team, we will also be needing some more volunteers to moderate the submissions. All you would need to do is read through pieces submitted, and vote 'yes' or 'no' on them. If you're interested simply send us a note, letting us know why you're interested and what you think you could bring to the group. Further details will be given to those who are successful. For now, we do not have any limits on how many people we can accept. This is also true of critiquers, which we are also looking for.

This adjustment to the group roles, leaves us with a new role that can be opened. The plan is to create a position which will be known as Writing Friends (if you can think of a better name, let us know). This will not be a responsible position, and you would not be required to do anything. Instead, members in this role will have privileges that others do not, in that submissions will be automatically accepted, you will have access to the admin area, and there may be a chance of features. You cannot apply for this role, but instead must be invited. Those who will be invited are likely to be those who have submitted at least fifteen pieces to the group, been a former admin of the group, or won a contest in which it was listed as a prize. (If you are a former admin, remind me, so you are not missed.)

Secondly, the prompts will be removed as a feature. This is due to the fact that it is very rarely used, and is only taking up space on our front page. The previous picture prompts will still remain in our favourites, but no new ones will be added.

This is an ongoing process, and you may not see the difference for a few days. This should not majorly affect the day to day running of the group, but we are sorry if this impairs your enjoyment of the group.

Until next time, happy writing!

Just a heads up to members, the group's founder, The-Magic-Within will be gone until next Thursday. This should not affect submissions into the group gallery, but membership acceptance and response to queries may be delayed. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

New Folder and Opportunity for Book Cover

As you may have noticed, we have opened a new folder, titled 'synopses'. This is a folder for your summaries and blurbs, to maybe encourage and entice a wider audience. All group guidelines still apply, and only three per week may be permitted.

If you have any questions about this folder, please ask.

With regards to this new folder, we have received an offer from monjonesart, who would like to work with one of our writers to create them a cover for their work. We will be using the synopses folder to make a choice.Copyright would remain with the artist, however the author would be permitted to publish the cover with their select work.
Subjects that would not be eligible include sensitive issues that would upset others, and that which is illegal.

Bare in mind that whichever author is chosen would be working with the artist, so please be prepared to have at least some involvement.

Examples of the artist's work:
Floridian still life with fossilized shells, oil p by monjonesart   Water fairy, mermaid by monjonesart   The green mermaid by monjonesart   Metropolis automaton or Maschinenmensch by monjonesart

Again, if you have any questions, just ask. :)

With christmas coming up, we will be doing a secret santa event. In accordance with the results of our recent poll, we will be doing two events - one for critiques, and one for short stories/poems.

Those who choose to participate will be assigned a name, and they then have to either create a poem or story for them, submit it, and send a note or a comment to let them know. For critiques, pretty much the same, except instead of creating a story/poem, you should go to their page and leave a critique on one of their lit pieces (note: please do not sign up for this event if you do not want genuine critique and/or cannot take constructive criticism. On the same note, do not sign up if you do not feel capable of giving a fair critique).

So, if you want to join in, then comment on this blog, and please make sure to let us know whether you want to join for stories/poems, critiques, or both. Sign up by the 10th, and we will then note you with the name.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

(in terms of giving critique, the pieces from our helpful pieces folder in our favourites.

Until next time, happy writing. :typerhappy:

To celebrate the anniversary of Love dA Lit, HugQueen wants to know why you love the literature community here on dA.

Anyone can participate, all you need to do is send a note before November 3rd saying why you love the lit community, and you have the opportunity to win great prizes. An article will be posted at the end, compiling all the reasons that have been sent, and you can see what makes this community so great.

More details can be found here, so why not get involved?
